The Flag:

Johns’ first use of the flag motif was the result of a dream the artist had in 1954 when he was 24 years old. Flag was exhibited in Johns’ first one-man show at Leo Castelli’s gallery in 1958 and is now located at MoMA in New York. Since that time, Johns has created more than 100 flags in various media, in a variety of sizes, as a single flag or in multiples, and depicted it in black & white, greys, in oranges and greens and in the traditional red, white and blue.  

“… the flag seems special. He returns to it again and again as a musician returns to a favorite theme or set of chords, a poet to a particular meter, or as Rembrandt did to his own ageing physiognomy.”

A notoriously enigmatic artist, Johns has remained tight-lipped regarding any possible socio-political associations with his repeated depictions of flags, making any such interpretation the responsibility of the viewer. While the United States flag is a powerfully loaded symbol in the collective American consciousness and around the world, Johns’ intentions in creating these works are non-symbolic. Instead, he is concerned with their formal stylistic structure, “Because what’s interesting to me is the fact that it isn’t designed, but taken. It’s not mine.”²  As something "the mind already knows," the motif of the flag provided Johns with a ready-made composition and allowed Johns to create meaning through other avenues, such as the physicality of his surfaces, in his process of making marks and in his choice of medium.

RADIO

Radio? I Love it .. Many take it for granted, The Radio. Not Me .. It's amazing, the Radio .. Believe me, when the Radio first came out, people did not take it for granted .. It was the marvel of the day. The first major use of the Radio to the American general public began in the early 1920's .. America's first radio stations popped up in the year 1920, but it took a couple years for the general population to get and use them in any great numbers. But once the radio did kick in, it was the greatest thing of the day. People could listen to music, news, skits, and comedic programming. The Radio was a Big and instant Success, and the American Public just loved it.

The 1930's were a grand hey-day of Radio as it didn't have TV to contend with. Some popular Radio Shows of the day, were; Roy Rogers and Hop AlongCassidy (Western),Jack Benny (Comedy), Batman, Flash Gordon and Superman, all Super Heroes.

For me, I remember always loving Radio as a very young child, ever since I could remember anything. I especially loved listening to it as we would drive in one of my dads cars; a Plymouth Fury, Packard (The Last Packard ever made), or Fabulous 1958 Cadillac Eldorado. back Then, I especially loved; The Beatles, The Supremes, and The Four Seasons of nearby Bellville, New Jersey, "Sherry! Sherry Baby!"

All these years, Radio has never wavered. It's always there, still and always great. Always providing great news, info, and Great Music. Well Great Music that is, if you listen to great music and not a station that plays "Horrible Crap Rap hip Hop." Now that's not good, and unfortunately it's out there on some radio stations that cater too those with the God Awful Taste who enjoy listening to "Crap" Rap.

 Well, let's get off that subject, and on to all the Good and great Music that Radio has given us over the years: Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, R&B, Pop, Jazz, Classical and more. Before TV it was a big thing to listen to Boxing Matches on the Radio, The Preakness, Kentucky Derby, Baseball, Basketball, and Football games, and listening to sports on the radio is still pretty big.

  Yes radio gives us a lot. It's quite versatile, and with sports, Talk Radio, and the News, it's biggest source and popularity is through music. Still, you ride in your car, you've got the radio on, it enhances the experience, of driving that is. Music on the radio has enhanced millions of experiences over the years, especially for lovers, young and old who have Necked (Made Out), and Fallen in Love with Music from the Radio, and please "No Rap."

President Obama Gives Moving Speech In Boston And Sheds a Few Tears

Sheds Tears at Boston Marathon Memorial

Boston, Massachusetts  ... April, 18 2013

President Obama gave a moving compassionate speech at The Holy Cross Cathedral in Boston today. As you all know, the President attended a multi religious service to honor and pray for the victims of The Boston Patriot Day, Boston Marathon Bombing. The President was joined by  a multi religious clergy from Jewish, Catholic, Muslim, Baptist, and Greek Orthodox faiths, as well as the Mayor of Boston and Governor of Massachusetts.

Mayor Thomas Menino and Govenor Deval Patrick both gave moving inspirational speeches.

Famed Cellist YoYo Ma performed a moving piece of music that was somber and sad. The piece was a Bach Cello Suite. Govenor Patrick gave his fine speech of which he stated that Boston "Invented" The United States. If you think about it, it is true. Well they were one of the inventors anyway, and the governor's speech was quite uplifting .  Then Governor Patrick said that he had the great privilege and pleasure to welcome The President of The United States of America, Barack Obama.

The President of The United States, Barack Obama did not disappointing. His speech was moving  touching, inspirational, and uplifting, and nearly brought me to tears several times as did the speeches of governor Patrick and religious leaders. The President said he came to Boston in support of the people of Boston on behalf of The American people, to help console those people injured and their families and of the families whose loved one were tragically killed in the senseless and brutal bombing on Monday, Patriot's Day, Boston Marathon Day 2013. The Presidents speech was consoling and inspirational as he stated how the bombing in Boston was a attack on not just Boston but America and Americas and that the American people could feel their pain (I know I do) and that all of America is behind Boston and all Bostonian s and especially for all those injured and killed, and that the federal, state, and local authorities will hunt down, find, and bring to justice the evil doers of this horrible senseless crime against the victims, Bostonian, Americans and all mankind.

President Obama made inspirational statements saying that this terrible act committed by these terrorist (whoever they are) will not beat down the resolve of Bostonian and Americans. The President got quite a roar from the crowd when he said that the people of Boston, Massachusetts  America and the World will be back next year for the 118th Boston Marathon, bigger and better than ever and not broken.

 Thank You Mr. President, Mayor Menino, Governor Patrick, and all Religious Leaders who spoke at this Memorial Service. Thanks for the kind words, leadership, and inspiration. And most of all, God Bless Lingzi Lu, Martin Richards, Krystal Campbell, all tragically killed in Mondays brutal bombing. God Bless their families and help guide them and deal with their tragic loses as best and peacefully as is possible. And our hearts go out and Bless the many and their families of whom were horribly injured and maimed. May they have strenght to continue their live as best possible though their lives have been terribly altered. Give them strength, and much "Love and Happiness" to go on. God Bless all who have been terribly affected in this awful tragedy.

The President gave his fine speech and returned to his wife, First Lady Michele Obama,gave her a Sweet Kiss, and then you could see our dear and very compassionate President Barack Obama "wipe back some tears" that he was able to hold back on the speech but began to shed, no doubt thinking of little Martin, Krystal, and Lingzi and all those terrible maimed victims and all their families.

PENELOPE CRUZ THE WORLDS SEXIEST WOMAN

Vicky Christina Barcelona, in a World of Bad Movies, Horrible Television, and some of the Worst Music of All-Time, it is quite refreshing, "It's Good,"

It's Wonderful as a matter-of-fact, to have a movie such as Woody Allen 's

Vicky Christina Barcelona ... The movie does just what a movie should, it makes you feel good. The movie makes you wish, if you're a man, that you were Juan Antonio, Javier Bardem's character, making love to three absolutely gorgeous women in short time and two at the same time with the incredibly Sexy and one of the World's most beautiful woman "Penelope Cruz"  along with the very beautiful Scarlett Johanson. "Wow!"

   I, unlike many in America don't call that many female movie stars among the most beautiful in the World as in the case with Julie Roberts and women before her like Lonny Anderson, not at all that beautiful, though many in the press and media had called these women beautiful and gorgeous. No! Penelope Cruz, now there, my friends is one of the Most Gorgeous, Sexy, Vivacious women to ever grace the Silver Screen or the World for that matter. When I look at Penelope Cruz in this movie, I just want to die, she is so dam Sexy, I want to jump her bones. My Heart is palpitating just thinking about her. So if i can't have her, yes, I feel like i want to die.

This is the job that Woody Allen has done in one of his best films in years, One of the best films in the past decade and dare I call a masterpiece.

By the same token, if you are a woman, you will fantasize being with Javier Bardem, or a man like his character in the movie.

Yes this movie came out several years ago, but as I just saw it the other night on a DVD from netflix, just had to talk about it. If you are a passionate romantic it can't fail to move you.

Two young woman, Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Christina (Scarlett Johanson) who go to Barcelona to spend the summer as they have been offered to stay in the home of Vicky's family friends.

The plot centers around Vicky and Christina who go sight seeing, dining, and explore the wonderful Catalonian city. One night they spot a artist Juan Antoion at a art opening. Christina is intrigued by him and ask her friends who he is.

Later in the evening Vicky and Christina spot Juan Antonio at a restaurant. Chrisina and Juan Antonio are eying each other across the room. Juan Antonio walks over to Vicky and Chrisina and introduces himself, then in short time invites the two Beautiful young Women to spend the weekend with him in the city of Ovedio and for the three of them to make Love together. Vicky is appalled by Juan Antonio's brazen advance while Chrisitna thinks it's charming and adventurous. Chrisitna wants to go, Vicky of course does not want to but agrees, if only to keep her eye on Christina and save her from this Don Juan.

Juan Antonio is still violently enamored with his emotionally unstable Ex-Wife Maria Elena.

So the girls go away for the weekend, both for different reasons, Christina wants the lost artist lover Juan Antonio, Vicky does not. A Love Triangle ensues. Check that Love Rectangle, there's more than three sides (people). There are four. Three woman, and the Lucky, most men would say, Juan Antonio.

I shall not tell you anymore, only that the movie is wonderful, Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Scarlett Johanson, and even Rebecca hall are all Beautiful and full of life. Woody Allen is still a genius, and you just have to see the movie, if you have not already, and if you have, it's so dam Good, it's probably time to be enamored once again. Maybe you need it as inspiration to spark your own Love Life! And who in this World could ever get enough of the Gorgeously Vivacious Penelope Cruz?
